Alex sleeps well in the writer's house. He wonders who the man is, and sneaks into his bedroom to find a copy of the book A Clockwork Orange, which shows him that the writer's name is F. Alexander. He goes down to breakfast, and F. Alexander explains that he has called some of his friends. Alex, remembering the night he attacked him, says he thought F. Alexander didn't have a phone. This seems to awaken some of F. Alexander's suspicions, but he tamps them down. F. Alexander called his friends because he believes Alex could be a potent weapon for groups resisting the government.
