Part One, Chapter 1
Using a complex English-Russian hybrid dialect (which we will later learn is called Nadsat), our narrator, Alex, introduces himself and his three "droogs," or buddies/companions/fellow gang members, Pete, Georgie, and Dim, who are sitting in the Korova Milkbar, drinking milk laced with strong drugs. They hear a mentally unstable man babbling. Alex, annoyed, hits him, and he and his droogs go out to wander the streets. They find an old man coming from the library, and they shred his books and beat him, stealing his money.
They then go into another bar, the Duke of New York, where they buy drinks for several...
