Chapter 3 - Cells and Tissues - Review Questions - Page 134: 33

Answer

In healing by fibrosis, scar tissues are formed by fibroblasts to repair the damage. But, in healing by regeneration, new cells of the same type replace the damaged cells. Healing by regeneration is preferred because new cells of the same type are formed in the damaged area and no scar is formed. Also, the functionality of the cells remains the same.
