Out of the Past Irony

Pablo's

Kathie tells Jeff that she goes to Pablo's from time to time so Jeff goes there to wait on her. Ironically, Jeff knows that she won't come the first night but still shows up and waits all night for her to show because he's in love with her.

A Kiss

Kathie kisses Jeff for the first time at the beach in Acapulco. Ironically, Kathie knows that Jeff is there to collect her for Whit but decides to kiss him anyway as she is attracted to him and wants a way to get away from Whit.

Hired Hand

Jeff is hired by Whit to find Kathie and bring her back to him. He finds her in Acapulco, but ironically decides to stay with her in the tropical town because he's fallen in love with her. He even tells Whit where he is and doesn't care because he's going to be gone with Kathie.

Whistlin'

Jeff is packing his things in his hotel room in Acapulco, preparing to go away with Kathie. He's whistling because he's so happy. Then someone knocks on the door. Ironically, it's Whit. He's there unannounced and Jeff's whistling stops immediately because he knows Whit has to be on to the fact that Jeff is in love with Kathie.

$40,000

Kathie is accused of stealing $40,000 from Whit, but she tells Jeff that she didn't take the money. Ironically, after Kathie kills Jeff's partner she runs off and Jeff finds her bank balance book with a deposit of $40,000. She has been lying to him to whole time.
