    What is the problem with connecting Black behavior to slavery or the end of slavery?

    This question references a dual theory that appeared shortly after slavery ended. Some argued that Black behavior--immorality, laziness, violence--were due primarily to slavery. Slavery destroyed the moral fabric of Black people. Even some major Black leaders, like W.E.B. DuBois believed this. The flipside to this is that freedom demoralized Black people as they were unfit for it. Kendi refers to this as an example of behavior racism.
