    Segregationist, Assimilationist, and Antiracist

    Collaborative Writing

    Objective:

    Students will analyze the different approaches to racism.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.9-10.2

    Structure:

    To begin this activity, give students a quick “quiz.” The quiz has three questions: what is the segregationist approach to race? What is the assimilationist approach to race? What is the antiracist approach to race? Give students about 10 minutes to complete the quiz. Have them swap papers with a neighbor and grade each other as you give the answers.
