Some might think that talking about race and identifying by race makes racism worse. If we stop doing those things, racism will go away. What does Kendi say to this?
The racist ideas presented in this question are assimilationist ideas. They tend to focus on the individual. If individuals stop talking about or thinking about race, then racism will go away. However, Kendi points out that if we stop using racial categories, we cannot identify racial policies or racial inequity. In that case, racial equity becomes impossible. Ignoring race only solidifies racism.
