Students will identify and explain important terms from the text
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.9-10.4
Structure:
To start, ask students why Kendi dedicates a whole chapter to definitions. Why are definitions important? Then, ask students to find a definition in the text that they found surprising or did not know before. Ask about 3-4 students to share.
Then, have students tell you the names of the terms Kendi defines. Make a list on the board.
