Many authors and literary scholars of color criticize the sci-fi/fantasy genre for oftentimes not including people of color in stories of the future. V for Vendetta is a story in which entire continents that are predominantly people of color are obliterated before the story’s start. For futuristic stories that not only include but center the lives of people of color, read Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler and Midnight Robber by Nalo Hopkinson.
