V for Vendetta is a dystopian graphic novel set in a near-future Britain and written by Alan Moore. It is set in the late 1990s, which was the future when the book was published in 1982. The novel follows V, an anarchist revolutionary who wants to free Britain from the clutches of Norsefire, an authoritarian government. V also sees vengeance against the people who harmed him in a concentration camp. Norsefire seeks to implement a white supremacist order and kills anyone they deem undesirable. V wears a Guy Fawkes mask in order to conceal his identity. He finds and trains Evey Hammond, a teenage girl, to become V when he is shot and killed.
