Movie vs. Book

Kind of Activity:

Mixed Media

Objective:

Students will analyze the differences of stories told through different forms of media.

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.9-10.7

Structure:

For this activity, the class should watch an adaptation of the book. Depending on availability and teacher preference, either the 1997 TV movie or the 1948 movie would be acceptable. There is also a new mini-series that began in April of 2018. Students should take notes as they watch, paying special attention to the differences between the movie and the book.
