Mystery as a Genre

Objective:
Students will research and understand mystery as a genre and how the genre has changed since "The Woman in White"
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.1; CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.4
Structure:
As a class, brainstorm elements that makes a story a mystery. Some questions to help the class get started could be: What sorts of characters are in mysteries? What type of plot occurs? Are there certain settings or tones crucial for mysteries? Keep track of the ideas on a white board or something similar.
