Chapter 4 - Integration - 4.2 Exercises - Page 264: 62

Answer

53

Work Step by Step

Since we know that there are 4 intervals, we know that there are 4 mindpoints from 0 to 4. So the midpoints are x = 1/2, 3/2, 5/2, and 7/2. We then plug this into f(x) to get f(x) = 9/4, 33/4, 65/4, and 105/4 respectively. To perform midpoint rule we have to multiply the change in x by the f(x) of the middle x, so: (1-0)*f(1/2) + (2-1)*f(3/2) + (3-2)*f(5/2) + (4-3)*f(7/2) which = 53
