Close Reading in Room
Kind of Activity:
Individual Writing
Objective:
Students practice close reading and write an analysis based on that close reading.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.1
Structure:
Before the activity, ask students to do some research on close reading and to write a short description of how they think close reading works.
To begin the activity, tell students they will do a close reading of part of Jack’s Great Escape, specifically pages 151-155.
