Too many “will never” happened
In a world where time stands still, two lovers are frozen in an embrace that will never go. They will be together forever their passion will be always the same, and their attitude towards each other will never change. One of them will never journey far from the lover and fall in love with someone else – that is how that narrator depicts that. But the irony is that, by highlighting all these events of the narrator hints that all of that had already happened.
Who you are: a human or a snapshot?
The narrator states that the Book of Life is an essential need in the world without memories because otherwise people don’t have the past, without this book they are just “snapshots”, “two-dimensional imagery”. Here the irony is used for understating the role of human without this book. Also, in this irony is hidden an undertone – people without memories, even if they are in a form of a book – are just creatures without a past.
A problem unsolved
Besso, Einstein’s close friend, was wondering how such a person got married. Actually, it was a mystery even for mister E. He explains this phenomenon in the following way – he hoped that Mileva “would at least do the housework”. But he was terribly mistaken because the unmade bed and dirty dishes didn’t vanish, nothing had changed and there even appeared one more problem – there appeared even more chores with the appearance of a baby. This irony shows how it is complicated for a person with genius mind, who spends all his time solving the problems of the Universe caliber to socialize and got used to other people around him.
Persuasive argumentation
“Stop eating so much”, - says the grandmother, tapping her son on the shoulder. “You’ll die before me and who will take care of my silver?” The irony is used as an illustration of family relationship; it doesn’t important for the general idea of the story but it makes the reading more interesting. The old lady knows, how to persuade her son to sit on a diet, her silver seems quite a good motivation for providing a healthy lifestyle.
