Einstein
He is the protagonist of the story. Einstein appears in the story in different periods of his life: when he is working on his discoveries. He is always shown thinking, sometimes even too much, he doesn’t care what is going on around him, and he is alone, no matter how many people are actually around him. His look is unkempt but it doesn’t matter for him, since the only thing that holds weight is thought: “His hair is uncombed, his trousers are too big. In his hands he holds twenty crumpled pages, his new theory of time”. he is married but he hardly goes anywhere with his wife: “Even at home, he sneaks away from Mileva in the middle of the night and goes to the kitchen to calculate long pages of equations”.Einstein isn’t the god dinner company, says the narrator. He is a rather reserved person who doesn’t care about other people too much (or it is better to say AT ALL). But still, he has a friend, who really likes him and appreciates their friendship. It is Besso.
Besso
Besso is maybe the only Einstein’s friend. He is a person who is always eager to meet him, who likes him and likes spending time with him although Einstein is not very attentive listener. Besso is fascinating with Einstein’s ideas and it is always a pleasure for him to be the first man in the world, who hears his theories. They discuss the point and then Einstein makes some consequences concerning his idea. Besso never doubted in Einstein’s intelligence, he thought that his friend may be capable of anything. But he is wondering how such person as Albert got married. He never talks about his wife or their infant, it seems as if they are not even a part of his life and he is okay with that. Besso, who is also married, couldn’t understand such an attitude.
Mileva
Mileva is Einstein’s wife. A woman whom he loved, well, actually, the reader may only suppose that fact because there is too little information about that. She cooks him, grows up their infant, they don’t go together anywhere – and that is all we know. Even Mileva’s attitude to her genius husband and their everyday life remains unclear.
