Einstein's Dreams Imagery

Einstein's Dreams Imagery

Patents

There were ubiquitous bookshelves in Einstein’s room where he kept his notebooks of patents: “one patent concerns a new drilling gear with teeth curved in a pattern to minimize friction. Another proposes an electrical transformer that holds constant voltage when the power supply varies. Another describes a typewriter with a low-velocity type that eliminates noise. It is a room, full of practical ideas”. The imagery highlights the personality of a man, who works there – a genius one; the man who worked hard and got a terrific results and practical implementations of his ideas, the man who lives to think, discover and create.

Dreams about time

Einstein, when he was the young patent clerk, was dreaming about time. He was dreaming about it for several months, because it was the topic of his new study: “his dreams have taken hold of his research. His dreams worn him out, exhausted him so that he sometimes cannot tell whether he is awake or asleep”. This imagery represents great physicist’s obsession with his work, the way he treated it, the idea of time became not just part of his life, it became part of him so it never left him both in reality and dreams (taking into account the fact that he couldn’t figure out which is what).

The world in which time is a circle

It is one of the Einstein’s theories of time – the world, in which time is a circle. Were you wondering what would happen then? Well, mister E gives you the possibility to find it out: “in the world in which time is a circle, every handshake, every kiss, every birth, every word, will be repeated precisely. So to every moment when two friends stop becoming friends, every time that a family is broken because of money, every vicious remark in an argument between spouses, every opportunity denied because of a superiors jealousy, every promise no kept”. The imagery helps the reader to imagine Einstein’s time theory (on of it’s aspects) more vividly and decide whether it is good that time is a circle or not.

The world in which time stands still

In the world where time stand still, everything is frozen – there are no memories or dreams because the future and the past just don’t exist. There is the moment and it lasts forever. “the loved one will never take his arms from where they are now, will never back the bracelet of memories, will never travel away from his lover, will never fall in love with someone else, will never lose the passion of this instant time”. The imagery thus shows the world in which time stands still.
