    Scene Work (Day One)

    Group Work

    Objective:

    Students will be able to engage with Williams's text in its intended form

    Structure:

    Initiate a discussion with the students about the difference between reading a play and reading a novel. A play was not intended primarily to be read like a book is; it was intended to be read by actors and then performed. Refer back to the first day's activity about dialogue and story, and note that although one could consider a play to be told with "only dialogue," it is in fact also told by actors, designers, and directors in collaboration with that dialogue.
