The imagery of switching bodies
The aspirations of the title character are described using sight imagery. From the beginning, the reader realizes that Mitsuha Miyamizu wants to be a tomboy in Tokyo, and she demonstrates that by switching bodies with Taki Tachibana, her male friend in high school in Tokyo. Consequently, Mitsuha's body change description depicts sight imagery, which is vital in the plot's setting.
The Train Trip
The train trip undertaken by Taki, Miki, and Tsukasa is not only intriguing but also shows readers the beauty of Itomori. The surrounding landscape triggers Taki's memory. Hida also plays a significant role in showing Taki the neighborhoods of Itomori, painting a clear picture for the audience. For instance, the audience learns that the ruins of Itomori represent the devastating loss in which more than five hundred people were killed due to the earth's fragmentation.
The imagery of reunion
Taki and Mitsuha go different ways to pursue their respective goals. It has been over five years, and these two friends have not met, but they look forward to uniting one day. The reunion takes place in a place called Suga Shrine. However, they first doubt each other, but they strongly feel that they know one another. Taki calls Mitsuba by name and tells her, "I think I know you." Mitsuha replies that she feels the same as Taki. The meeting scene is steamy, and they shed tears of joy concurrently, and they promise each other never to separate again.
