Your Name is a Japanese anime feature film that was released in 2016. Written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, the romantic drama is about two high schoolers who out of the blue swap their bodies. The titular roles are voiced by Ryunosuke Kamiki and Mone Kamishiraishi. Before the film’s release, Shinkai published a book with the same name. Shinkai also acted as the cinematographer and editor of the film.

Your Name won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award of 2016. It also received the highly coveted nomination at the 40th Japan Academy Prize for Best Animation. A live-action remake is currently in development which is expected to be set in the United States.

The film was distributed internationally by Toho and released in 2017. It was a commercial success with a global gross of $359 million. It was crowned the highest-grossing anime film of all time. The film was also critically recognized for its advancements in animated technology, musicality, deep narrative, and a significantly emotional film.

The film was produced by Koichiro Ito and Katsuhiro Takei under the production company CoMix Wave Films. The animated designs were curated by Masashi Ando and Masayoshi Tanaka. The film’s music composition was handled by the Radwimps.
