    Stanislavski's Method

    Objective:

    Students will learn about the theatrical world in Russia at the time Chekhov was writing

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.11-12.2

    Structure:

    Ask students how they think actors make choices when they're acting in a play. How do they know what to do, when words and characters' motivations could be interpreted in multiple different ways?

    Review the homework on Stanislavski. Explain to students that the first production of The Seagull was unsuccessful, but two years later, when Stanislavski directed a production at the Moscow Art Theatre, the true depth and sophistication of the play was recognized....
