The electronic configuration is the arrangement of electrons in different orbitals around the nucleus of an atom according to the Aufbau principle, Paulis exclusion principle, and Hund's rule of maximum multiplicity. Paulis exclusion states that no two electrons in an atom can have the same value for all the four quantum numbers. Hence this principle limits the capacity of each orbital by two electrons. The Hund's rule of maximum multiplicity states that electron pairing in orbitals of each subshell having the same energy does not take place until each of the available orbitals is singly occupied with clockwise spin.
