Chapter 8 - Special Senses - Review Questions - Page 332: 18

Answer

Fovea centralis is a small depression in the center of the macula on the retina. It contains the densest area of cones and, hence, produces the sharpest image information to the brain. The light from an object on which the eye is focused falls into this area, and its clear, sharp image is formed in the center of vision.
