“Olympic Gold”
In Act 1,Diana Son writes, “ We hear the tiny pop, of a baby passing a puff gas. Nina reacts with the pride of a mother who’s just watched her daughter win Olympic gold.” The emblematic ‘Olympic gold’ accentuates the biological import of ‘passing gas’, it may seem inconsequential for adults, but for new-borns it is outrightly relieving.
Gun
In scene two Eric reports, “Two fucking guys just chased me for four blocks. They took my ipod and backpack, they had a gun!” The gun is emblematic of the inescapable ferocity in Brooklyn which could subsidize killings and felonies.
