The Imagery of a Lullaby
Miles and Nina sing, “baby, on the treetop. When the wind blows, the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall.” Nina thinks that this lullaby is somewhat unsuitable, considering that its diction alludes to the baby falling. An apposite lullaby should not only mollify the baby; it should incorporate constructive subtexts.
The Imagery of the New Apartment (“Unrenovated Brownstone”)
Nina elucidates, “Four (Floors). We converted the garden level into an office for me and Kit so, we’re only living on this floor and the one above.” The brownstone accomplishes the dual roles of a home and a workstation. Therefore, Nina finishes her job from her house, an arrangement which permits her to nurse her baby.
