Satellites Metaphors and Similes

‘My Little Champion’

Nina addresses the new-born, “You did it (pass gas) Oh, I’m so happy for you…My little champion.” The rhetorical champion accentuates Nina’s maternal gratification. She applauds her daughter for the exertions she exploits to be biologically effective which is contributing to her subsistence.

“Carrying my weight”

Nina states, “Kit’s been carrying my weight for the past month. (Miles starts to massage Nina’s shoulders.) She’s been working on the Tillman job and on the Barcelona competition. Not to mention she set up the whole office by herself.” The allegorical weight designates the additional accountabilities which Kit has been bearing due to Nina’s motherhood. Kit has been working alone for Nina would not accomplish her duties in their enterprise after giving birth.
