Bob has had an intimate, but non-sexual relationship with Charlotte that appears to be serious and real. Ironically, he sleeps with the hotel jazz singer.

Tokyo

Bob is a movie star and well known all over the world. Ironically, he is barely recognized when he is in Japan and this is a major reason he is there.

$2 million

Bob has come to Tokyo in order to make $2 million filming a commercial for a Japanese Whiskey. Ironically, he chooses to do the shoot in the midst of his marriage falling apart and his son's birthday happening while he's filming the commercial.

Friendship

Bob has created a platonic relationship with Charlotte in Tokyo. And despite them being so close he ironically sleeps with the hotel jazz singer knowing that there is something between himself and Charlotte.

Charlotte

Charlotte meets Bob in a hotel bar in Tokyo. She is disillusioned by her relationship to her celebrity photographer who's left her alone in the hotel. Ironically, she befriends a movie star which appears to be a potential relationship for her.
