What two revelations does Violet have in the fourth chapter? Why are they significant?

At the beginning of the chapter, Violet contemplates "that other Violet." We learn that the "other" Violet knows things that Violet does not know and often acts without Violet's permission. It is that other Violet who cut Dorcas's face at the funeral, that other Violet who was strong enough to fight off the men at the funeral, that other Violet that released all the birds.
