Immortal Metaphors and Similes

Immortal Metaphors and Similes

A storybook land of knights and elves

On their first encounter, when Evie first arrives to Wyldcliffe, she is surprised by Sebastian's mysterious appearance. She noticed that he is only a boy, about her age, but he looked completely out of this world, in literal sense. He looked as if he came from a storybook land of knights and elves and princes.

As strong as the deep green ocean

Evie is tired of being pitied, tired of people whispering and feeling sorry for her. She is determined to show a completely different side of her in the new school. She won't cry she won't show weakness; she will show that she is strong as the deep green ocean.

Like a streak of blood

Wyldcliffe, from the get go is described as an ominous and suspicious place. Evie is even warned by the taxi driver about the place, who at first refuses to take her there, but then reluctantly agrees. The ominous atmosphere is intensified by the cloudy weather, and the sun just lightly peeking out between the clouds like a streak of blood.

A stricken animal

After traveling to London and leaving her whole life behind, Lady Agnes has moments of regret. She intensely misses her parents and her beloved and decides to cast a spell to see their faces. She sees her parents devastated and Sebastian cursing her. She tries calling out to him but there is no answer. Agnes is in despair, and she breaks the Circle and flings herself to the floor like a stricken animal. She is dying to be with her beloved once again.
