Is Shields of the opinion that love matters than anything else in life?
In the novel Immortal, Shields argues that love is the most significant aspect in life because it rectifies and stabilizes life challenges. The characters in the novel who demonstrate that love matters most are Evie and Sebastian. Nothing stops Evie from winning Sebastian because she wants to be his spouse in the long run. However, the journey of pursuing Sebastian is not easy for Evie because it is rough and has many obstacles but she does not despair. Sebastian does a similar thing. After all, he wants to protect Evie because he believes that their love is more important than anything else.

Does perpetuity emerge as one of the key themes in the novel Immortal?
The title Immortal is ironic because it prepares the reader that there is an element of perpetuity in the novel. Sebastian is the primary character who wants to be immortal because he wants to live forever. What is annoying is that he is ready to attaint infinity using all means without even caring those around him. He does not mind stepping over even those who love him such as Agnes as long as he lives forever. However, the reader finds this sardonic because life has to come to an end.

How does the author use vision to depict the imagery of the night?
Most events in this novel are carried out at darkness when there is poor visibility and this appeals the sense of sight to the reader. Evie is among the key characters in the novel who finds herself carrying out some things at night. A good example is that she meets Sebastian at night to ensure that no one sees her. This explains why she is fond of going to school at night. The night paints a picture of mystery to the reader and he comprehends why the two are meeting during darkness.
