Desperation and Consequences

Caught up in the desperation of poverty, Kaye’s father sets up a fraudulent scheme in hopes of turning profit and leave the neighborhood. Kaye lures her friends into the scheme fully knowing the risks. Things don’t go as planned as Kaye’s father unexpectedly dies and the scheme swallows all their life savings. Their friends turn on them demanding their money back. They fall into a trap that they are unequipped to set themselves free from.

Greed and Oppression

The film portrays the effects of capitalism on these low-income individuals, as the inequality in society has forced them to resort to unimaginable means to achieve their set goals. Matti also shows the social and economical distress that has affected the entire country of Mexico. He uses bleak political statements to call out the elite in society who have been too greedy, chocking the lives of the working class.

Family

The film tells the story about a family caught up in a fraudulent scheme. They have to come together as a family and find a solution to dig themselves out of debt and poverty. Resorting to extreme measures to save their daughter, they are faced with unimaginable odds.
