Bruce Campbell
The hero of the film, he plays a man who finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time in a grand fashion. His character progresses from an everyday working Joe trying to cope with the horrors around him to a more hardened, more cynical individual who doesn’t hesitate to use buckshot and power tools to keep the forces of evil at bay. His role as Ash Williams also proves to be one of Bruce Campbell’s most memorable and beloved roles.
Sarah Uriarte Berry
Professor Knowby's daughter who travels to the cabin with her father intent on unlocking the secrets kept inside the Necronomicon. She is kept safe from the evil that her father unwittingly sets loose because she was away searching for the other lost pages of the cursed book. Originally she mistakes Ash as her parent’s murderer but eventually ends up helping Ash defeat the Kandarian Demon when she realizes that he is as much a victim as she is. Sarah’s role in Evil Dead 2 is one of many appearances in b-horror films.
Dan Hicks
One of the locals hired by Annie to help them get to the cabin. Jake is a cowardly, white-trash guy who thinks nothing of abandoning people if he thinks he’s in danger. Annie unintentionally wounds him, mistaking him for a demon-possessed Ash. The monstrous Henrietta eventually eats him. Dan Hicks, the actor who plays Jake is a frequent collaborator of Sam Raimi films.
Kassie Wesley DePaiva
Jake’s berating harpy of a girlfriend who, like her spineless boyfriend tries to escape the cabin despite others still being in danger. She is dragged off by the trees of the forest, having been animated by the evil spirits unleashed through the foul rite enacted by her father. Kassie has been featured in both film and TV, albeit in smaller, less prominent roles.
Ted Raimi
Wife of Prof. Raymond Knowby and the first deadite created by the foul forces unleashed from the Necronomicon. She attacks her husband and over time mutates into a horrible, long-necked creature. She is eventually defeated by Ash. Ted is the brother of the director Sam Raimi and like Dan Hicks is also a frequent collaborator for his brother’s horror and/or gore films.
Denise Bixler
Ash's girlfriend and second deadite born from the foul powers coming from the rediscovered Necronomicon. She goes on a killing rampage after she is possessed and Ash ends up killing her with a shovel; her remains are reanimated later on to finish the gruesome work she started and she is eventually defeated after having been diced to bits by chainsaw. Denise Bixler moves on to star in a couple of forgettable films in her career.
Richard Domeier
Annie’s preppy boyfriend and Prof. Knowby's associate, he too ends up falling under demonic control and proceeds to attack the other survivors. Ash dispatches him with an ax. Richard has since moved on to TV as a host for a TV shopping channel and a number of theatrical productions.
John Peaks
The archaeologist who discovers the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis who eventually becomes its first victim, he accidentally unleashed the Kandarian Demon and in doing that he sets into motion events that lead into the Army of Darkness film. It is uncertain if he is truly dead as he appears as a disembodied, phantasmal head.
