The action takes place in Kyrria that is a town of Frell. In fact, such a city does not exist in the real world. As it is a fairy tale, the author made Kyrria up, where Ella, her stepmother and stepsisters, various fairy-tale creatures live.
Narrator and Point of View
The narrator of the tale is a first-person Ella, who tells about her life with her stepmother Olga, then in a boarding school and adventures with Prince Charmont.
Tone and Mood
The mood is magical and fabulous, because it is a children’s fairy tale with many different creatures, fairies, gnomes, elves, giants and the struggle between good and evil.
Protagonist and Antagonist
The main protagonist is Ella. The main antagonists are her stepmother Olga and stepsisters Hattie and Olive.
Major Conflict
The major conflict happens between Ella and the fairy Lucinda. Ella receives Lucinda’s gift of obedience. This gift prevents Ella from enjoying her freedom, and Ella gets angry with Lucinda.
Climax
The climax happens when Ella manages to get rid of her undesirable gift (obedience) with the help of her will.
Foreshadowing
At the beginning of the book, when the author tells about the gift of obedience, it is already clear that Ella will obey and fulfill all the orders of people.
