Ella
Ella is a main heroine of the fairy tale and a young girl, who has ready wit and good sense of humor. Her life is almost destroyed because of the ill-fated gift. The fairy Lucinda wishes the poor girl always to be obedient. Since then, Ella physically cannot resist other people’s orders, which predictably do not make her particularly happy. Ella is a very cheerful and kind girl, who believes that one day her life will be beautiful.
Prince Charmont
Prince Charmont is a future heir and king. He is a positive, beautiful, really kind, intelligent and fair character. He is a dream for every girl. His sincerity and love fascinate Ella. She falls in love with Charmont and his intentions are serious. Even his name “Charmont” says that he is a charming man. He helps Ella get rid of her gift and makes her marriage proposal.
Mandy
Mandy is a fairy and cook in the house of Sir Peter and Ella. This woman is the second mom of Ella, because she treats her with respect and loves Ella like her own daughter. Mandy has a very kind heart, because she helps Ella cope with her unusual gift and her terrible stepmother.
Sir Peter
Sir Peter is Ella’s father, but readers will not even want to talk about this man. As he always goes to work, he rarely sees his daughter Ella and almost does not communicate with her. He is very indifferent to Ella and it makes him a negative character. At the end of the book, he stays with Olga and he does not visit his daughter in the castle.
Stepmother Olga
Olga is an antagonist of the fairy tale. She is insolent, greedy, disagreeable, wicked and…in general it is clear what kind of person she is. Her only positive feature is punctuality. As she is Ella’s stepmother, she hates the girl and does everything to make Ella suffer.
Hattie and Olive
These two girls are Ella’s stepsisters. Hattie is an arrogant and insolent girl. Olive is a stupid and assuming girl. Two sisters perfectly complement each other and create “a walking trouble”. As their mother, they scoff at Ella, when they get to know about her gift.
Lady Eleanor
Eleanor is Ella’s mother. She is the most pleasant and merciful character in the book. She is very fond of her daughter and always teaches her to be kind.
Lucinda
Lucinda is a fairly, who gives Ella the gift of obedience. She is a positive character. Nevertheless, she is irresponsible for her actions. At the end of the book, she repents of her deeds and apologizes to Ella.
