Aishwarya Rai
Born in 1973 and winner of the 1994 Miss World pageant, Rai is an Indian actress and model. Beginning her work in the late 1990's, Bride and Prejudice was filmed after she was already very popular on the worldwide screen. In 2002, Devdas, in which she played a main role, went to the Cannes Film Festival. Some of her other popular films include Jodhaa Akbar and Raavan, and many other Bollywood productions. Rai was likely chosen to act as Lalita because of her brilliant performances of acting as a lover, which was the role that she received in most of her films.
Martin Henderson
Born in 1974 and playing the role of an American in Bride and Prejudice, Martin Henderson is actually a New Zealander. He had roles in the popular show Grey's Anatomy, and acted as Noah Clay in the horror film, The Ring. Henderson has also acted in the films Cedar Boys, The Moment, and Everest, but none of his film got him critical acclaim. Henderson still acts today, and is quite popular in his home country of New Zealand.
Daniel Gillies
The cast of Bride and Prejudice isn't exclusively from the eastern hemisphere - this worldwide cast includes Daniel Gillies, from Canada. Born in 1976 in Canada, Gillies later moved to New Zealand. He has acted in The Vampire Diaries and Saving Hope, television shows that came after his introduction to acting through theater. Gillies became upset that there were never any acting jobs in New Zealand, so he ended up moving to Los Angeles, United States. Gillies was the perfect person to play Wickham because of his rebellious personality and kind tone.
