Before I Fall Metaphors and Similes

Before I Fall Metaphors and Similes

Like pets (simile)

Lindsay’s boyfriend Patrick is very upset, because his parents do not take him on a trip. Lindsay says that “guys are like pets. Feed ’em, pet’ em, and put ’em to bed”. This comparison shows that guys are vulnerable and defenseless creatures, and you need to take care of them.

Like shiny present (simile)

Kent is Sam’s childhood friend. However, in high school, they are not friends, because Sam is a popular girl and Kent is a quiet unpopular boy, who weirdly dresses. Despite this fact, Kent “acts like the world is one big, shiny present he gets to unwrap every morning”. This comparison shows that Kent adores his life, without being “Mr. Popularity”.

A soap bubble (metaphor)

Life in high school is like hell for Juliet Sykes. However, she does not understand that “the school is just a soap bubble” that eventually will burst and nothing will remain. Every student will finish school and everyone will have their own life. Everyone will grow up and realize that the school has its own barrier, where there are special rules, which put on students certain labels.
