Alice in the Cities Cast List

Rudiger Vogler

Vogler's working relationship with Wim Wenders was long and extremely productive. After making his film debut in 1971 in a made-for-television movie called Chronicle of Current Events, the German actor's partnership with Wenders began when he was cast in the film A Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty, which was a box office success not just because of the direction on the part of Wenders but because its title suggested that it might be a soccer movie, something that soccer-obsessed Germans were always eager to see. The Volger/Wenders partnership lasted almost two decades. Still working, Volger now lives in Paris, where he makes the occasional guest appearance on popular European serial dramas.

Yella Rottlander

German native Rottlander is equally happy in front of, and behind, the scenes of a movie set; as well as being an accomplished film and television actress she is also well-known and well-respected as a costume designer. She worked with Wim Wenders at the age of nine when she was cast as the eponymous Alice in Alice in the Cities but had already collaborated with him as an actress in The Scarlet Letter, and subsequently starred in Far Away, So Close.

Lisa Kreuzer

Born in 1945, German actress Lisa Kreuzer is somewhat of a journeyman when it comes to her craft. She has appeared in over one hundred and twenty movies and television series, and like most of the actresses with whom Wenders worked, worked with him repeatedly. She appeared opposite Dennis Hopper in the Wenders-directed The American Friend and also appeared in all three of the films that made up the Road Movie Trilogy. .

Kreuzer took their collaboration a little further than most actresses; she and Wenders were married in 1974, although the union lasted only four years.
