Alice in the Cities

Alice in the Cities Analysis

Alice in the Cities involves a nine-year-old girl who is left by her mother with a German journalist called Philip Winter. Winter and Lisa meet while booking a flight to Germany. Lisa is accompanied by her daughter, Alice. After befriending each other, Lisa leaves Philip in charge of her daughter. Lisa wants to sort out things with her ex-lover. She tells Philip and Alice to meet up with her in Amsterdam. Upon arrival at the airport, Lisa is missing. The pair then goes to Germany. Philip decides to locate Alice’s grandparents. Unfortunately, the search does not bear fruits.

The journey between the U.S to Germany makes Philip and Alice become acquainted. As a result, Alice does not want Philip to leave her. She uses every trick possible to stay stuck with Philip. Their journey is full of challenges. However, that does not stop Alice from admiring Philip. For instance, she cheats Philip about her grandparents’ place of residence to spend a long period with him. Besides, when left at the police station, she escapes to follow him.

After Lisa has been found, Alice ensures that Philip doesn’t leave her. Her bond to Philip is strong. Sometimes children tend to become acquainted with adults to the extent of not wanting to delink. Once a child places her trust in an adult, it becomes difficult to separate them.
