Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown Irony

Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown Irony

Carlos and Marisa

Ironically, of all the penthouses Carlos and Marisa choose to look at, they look at Pepa's. This is ironic because they are linked through Ivan.

Flight times

Paulina the lawyer has tickets to Stockholm. Ironically, we find out that the Shiite terrorist groups are planning to hijack a flight to Stockholm.

Lucia irony

At the end of the film, we discover that Lucia is not actually sane and has been faking it the whole time. This is an example of situational irony, as it goes against what we expected.

Pepa and Ivan

Although Pepa was devastated when Ivan broke up with her, she later acts unexpectedly. She throws his belongings at him and almost hits him. At the end of the film, she also acts in a way we might not expect, when she rejects him.

Saving Ivan

Again, Pepa acts against what we might expect when she puts herself at risk to save Ivan and his new partner. We might expect her to care less about his situation and to not put herself at risk to save him.
