Structure:

Remind students that in this section of Chapter 2, Sharifa gives Firdaus some inspiring advice. First Sharifa says “You must be harder than life…Life is very hard. The only people who really live are those who are harder than life itself” (72). She later tells Firdaus that women have to choose their worth. They have to value themselves.
