    Pozzo views himself as an aesthete: a man concerned with higher things such as beauty, truth, and the night sky. However, he is often inhumane in his actions towards others, especially Lucky. How might Beckett be using this contrast in his character to reflect aspects of human society?

    Pozzo could be interpreted as a rather thoughtless member of society's upper classes, who lives comfortably and owns lands but fails to see, in spite of his interest in philosophical reflection, the hypocrisy in his own ways.
