There’s a Wocket in my Pocket Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Vug under the rug

The young boy expresses the idea that whilst some creatures are friendly, others “ are NOT.” The Vug under the Rug may be a physical manifestation of kids fears of something hiding under a household item. The Vug represents an ominous figure in the child’s home.

Zall in the Hall

The child admits that the Zall is something he wishes “wasn’t there.”This may represent the concept of children not taking well to strangers. The hallway is, of course, where most guests would enter, and the idea that he is scared of the hallway is suggesting it is actually people he does not know whom he is afraid of.

Imagination

The creatures are a manifestation of the intelligence and imagination of the young boy. He turns common household items into creatures, that rhyme with their setting. The boy is truly portrayed to be a young creative.

Loneliness

The creatures themselves are a physical manifestation of the boredom the young children is experiencing at home. He is left alone at home with nothing to do so he invents these figurative characters to keep him company.
