    Compare and contrast the narrator’s story with his brother’s story. What do the two stories have in common? What is the main difference between them?

    The stories of the narrator and his brother mirror each other in many ways. Like the narrator, the brother is a man of science (he’s a medical student). His story describes how the people of London are slow to realize the danger represented by the Martians, which is exactly how people in the countryside responded. The brother, like the narrator, is a man of action, as we see when he fights the men who are trying to rob the two women.
