Consider Claire and Anton’s relationship in the musical. Compare and contrast with the play.

Students may note more romance in the musical - or at least, a greater tenderness and intimacy between Anton and Claire. We get to see more of how they feel about each other, because they literally sing about their feelings (to each other, and privately). Some students may feel there is a temptation on Claire’s part to let Anton live - even an imagined possible future where Claire and Anton start a new romance.
