What is the main message conveyed by the story?
The main message is to be accepting of our differences as individuals. The Sneetches are labelled according to their external features rather than by their internal features. However, the desperation of the Sneetches to gain the approval of others by merely changing their physical appearance shows to have disastrous consequences. -

How are the Seuss’ depicted?
The cartoon drawings used in the story show the Sneetches to be typical Seussian dog-like creatures, but their body is in the shape of a bird. Thus, the Sneetches can be identified by young children as being a sort of hybrid of common animals that they may be aware of already. -

What does Sylvester McBean represent?
McBean is portrayed as a greedy opportunist, which may represent the exploitative nature of big corporations. He does not care for the Sneetches, despite their dire frustrations, and only hopes to make a quick fortune off of their misery.
