The Nice Guys Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Injuries

March has cut himself on the wrist trying to break into get evidence, and he wears a cast as well after Healy breaks his left arm. These are symbols that this man is injured in more ways than just physical. They become part of his m.o. as he continues to do things that put himself in harms way.

Since the funeral

March is speaking to a woman about helping her find her husband. He sees the man's urn on the mantle and the woman says he's been missing since the funeral. March immediately says he can take the case. This is a symbol that March will willingly take money from people knowing that they haven't a clue he is robbing them blind.

What's your favorite?

Healy and March interview Judith after saving her daughter. Judith tells them that she spends half of her day on porn. Immediately March asks her what kind and which is her favorite. Healy corrects him to say that she fights porn. This is a symbol of March's child-like nature. That he takes things for exactly what they seem to be, rather than the intent.

Amelia

Amelia makes a porn film with her boyfriend in order to name names in a scandal. It is a symbol of how pornography uses people, even very smart and well-intentioned ones, in ordre to make their films. Amelia cna't see that no one watches porn for the plot, which March points out.

Misty Mountains

Mist dies in a car accident in the backyard of a home where a young boy lives. He was just looking at her in a Playboy magazine. This is a symbol of how when a fantasy is brought to life it isn't as great as one may expect it to be.
