The Mamba Mentality: How I Play Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Shots

Bryant explains, “That’s because I always kept the end result, the long game, in my mind. I always focused on the fact that I had to try something to get it…If the price was a lot of work and a few missed shots, I was OK with that.” Shots are fundamental symbols in basketball which become the clearest signals of a team’s accomplishments. However, Bryant is not distressed by missing them occasionally.

Best

Bryant asserts, “From the beginning, I wanted to be the best. I had a constant craving, a yearning, to improve and be the best. I never needed any external forces to motivate me.” Bryant’s unconscious pining for accomplishment is intrinsically inspired. Consequently, he does not depend on extrinsic forces to amplify his devotion to success.

Film

Bryant explains, “Film study eventually became imagining alternatives, counters, options, in addition to the finite details of why some actions work and others don’t work.” Films are a pastime which empower Bryant to advance his mentality. Accordingly, films are not a meager hobby for him.
