Because of his life experiences and the time when he grew up, several of Dahl’s stories revolve around World War II. If Dahl were writing today, he might have included mention of social media and the Internet. He might also comment on Brexit and climate change. He might also have been intrigued by the possibility of colonizing Mars, as well as various immigration and refugee situations in Europe.
