The Heir (The Selection) Quotes

Quotes

"Either way, I couldn’t slow now. I knew that for my sake—for my family’s sake—I had to finish my Selection. And, when I did, I’d have a ring on my finger."

Eadlyn

This is the first time Eadlyn wished to be a part of the Selection herself, without the pressure form any other source, such as her parents, her people, or her brother. It is an important turning point in Eadlyn's life, as she starts seeing things in a different light, and actually decides to give the boys a chance. Prior to this moment, Eadlyn had decided to not marry anyone at the end of the Selection, but to instead only have it as a distraction for the people of Illéa. She now changed her mind.

"I couldn’t even make it to one. I once tried to run a mile in seven minutes after hearing some athletes could do it in four but failed spectacularly when a side stitch crippled me about halfway in. However, there was one thing I managed to do in seven minutes that most would say is quite impressive: I became queen."

Eadlyn

This is a quote from the first chapter in the book, showing us how Eadlyin became a queen. It is very important, as it becomes a subject of discussion several times though the book. It also shows Eadlyn's attitude towards her throne and her brother.

“You are Eadlyn Schreave. You are the next person in line to run this country, and you will be the first girl to do it on your own. No one,” I said, “is as powerful as you.”

Eadlyn

Eadlyn looks down on every other person in the castle, except her parents. She knows how powerful she is and is certainly not afraid to show it. That is the reason a lot of people detest her and wishes for another heir to the throne.

"Exactly I have one heart, and I'm saving it."

Eadlyn Schreave has one heart. She is saving it until she meets the one.
