Keira Cass is an American author who writes young-adult fiction. She has written six novels and seven novellas. She grew up in South Carolina and went to Radford University where she received a B.A. in history. Cass's books have reached #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List, and the Selection series in particular has been a massive success, selling millions of copies all over the United States.
Her first book, The Selection, was published in 2012 by HarperTeen, and The Elite followed soon after in 2013. Television rights for the show were picked up by CW Television Network, and two pilots were filmed, but they never made it to the air. In 2015, Warner Bros bought the rights to the book in order to make it into a movie. The director Haifaa Al-Mansour has recently been hired for the production, which will be produced by Netflix.
In 2015, in an article about Cass, The Guardian wrote, "Cass makes it a suspenseful read with dramatic events and romantic moments and you never know what is coming up in the next chapter."
On her personal website, Cass writes that three things she loves are "office supplies, boy bands, desserts."
